The Digital-Evidence-Based-Medicine (DEBM) Lab comprises of a dynamic group of multidisciplinary professionals from a variety of disciplines, developing a variety of research aligned to Global Health initiatives. DEBM provides and promotes many opportunities for research collaborations and partnerships to advance healthcare innovation and foster high quality research that can be used to improve clinical practice.
DEBM explores new ways to enhance the conduct of research using digital methods, greener and sustainable approaches.
Our multidisciplinary core group focus on an array of research areas including but not limited to Women's Health, Pain Medicine, Multimorbidity, Respiratory Medicine, Mental health, Cognitive Neuroscience and Artificial intelligence (including Computer Vision, Empirical Machine Learning, Human-Centered and Creative Artificial intelligence, Natural Language Processing and Speech, Reinforcement Learning, Medical Statistical and Theoretical Machine Learning).
DEBM is committed to fostering the development of future independent researchers, other research professional groups and academics. We provide a supportive and collaborative environment where students engage in cutting-edge projects, gain hands-on experience in advanced methodologies, and contribute to impactful research. Through mentorship and skill-building opportunities, we equip them with the knowledge, expertise, and confidence to pursue independent research careers and make meaningful contributions to their respective fields.
Our lab collaborates extensively across Asia, Africa, and the Americas, partnering with academic institutions, non-profit organisations, and healthcare providers to address pressing global health challenges. These partnerships are underpinned by a shared commitment to evidence-based approaches, equity, equality and innovation, creating a dynamic ecosystem that fosters capacity and capability building at multiple levels.
Through collaborations with academic institutions, we co-design and implement population based research that informs policy and practice. This includes training students and early-career researchers, enhancing their technical and analytical skills, and empowering them to become independent contributors to global health advancements.
Our partnerships with non-profit organisations enable us to translate research into community-driven interventions, ensuring that outcomes are not only impactful but also sustainable and culturally appropriate. Working with healthcare providers, we bridge the gap between research and practice, co-developing tools and solutions that directly benefit patients and healthcare systems.
This ecosystem leverages diverse expertise and resources, enabling innovation while building local capacity for long-term sustainability. By integrating training, research, and implementation, we have created a robust framework that strengthens institutional and individual capabilities, contributing to transformative health outcomes across regions. This collaborative model exemplifies the power of global partnerships to create meaningful and lasting change.
Our collaborative ecosystem can partner and deliver research in rural, semi-rural, urban and semi-urban settings.
